What is Moxi?

Sciton's Moxi is a 1927nm Thulium laser that is used to even out skin complexion, improve fine lines and wrinkles and together with BBL is a force to be reckoned with. These treatments compliment one another leaving you with a polished look.  And the great news about this laser is that it can be used on patients with beautiful Fitzpatrick 6 skin since the laser targets water and not melanin. Along the same lines, Moxi is more forgiving when treating patients with recent sun exposure as sun exposure normally precludes treatments. Finally, Moxi can be deployed to bearded areas without risk of hair follicle destruction.

This diagram illustrates the treatment process when combining Sciton BBL HERO with Moxi. The first image highlights the objectives of the Sciton BBL HERO treatment, which include targeting hyperpigmentation, underlying redness, fine facial vessels, acne, and hair. When calibrated for these specific skin concerns, the goals are to lighten hyperpigmented spots, reduce or eliminate redness, destroy facial vessels, improve acne, and reduce hair density or remove hair completely. The second image depicts Moxi's mechanism, which uses a thulium laser to treat the skin with a fractionated non-ablative laser. This targets water in the skin, creating microscopic treatment zones surrounded by healthy tissue. The healthy tissue accelerates the re-epithelialization of these zones, promoting neocollagenesis and reducing the signs of photoaging. The third image illustrates the overall improvement in skin appearance and highlights one mechanism by which Sciton's BroadBand Light achieves such results. A small study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology (2013) suggests that Sciton BBL treatments can positively influence gene expression, shifting it towards a more youthful pattern, possibly resulting in younger-looking skin. The final image shows the ultimate goals of combining Sciton BBL HERO and Moxi treatments, emphasizing the enhanced skin rejuvenation achieved through this combination therapy.

2 BBL HERO + 1 Moxi

This patient has seen improvement in redness, uneven tone & texture, and small vessel correction. By starting at her age and with continued treatments this patient will enjoy more youthful looking skin decades later. The ability of this technology to induce collagen & elastin, treat the signs of aging and its ability to affect gene expression all come together to produce long lasting and dramatic results.  Complimenting BBL HERO with Moxi leaves the skin with a beautiful tone, texture and polished glow.
Left Picture: The Left side of a female patient's face before BBL HERO and Moxi of note there is underlying redness, uneven pigment, minimal freckling and dry appearance. Overall, though the patient's complexion shows room for seemingly little improvement. Right Picture: Here we see a significant improvement in underying redness, uneven skin tone, and a healthy glow to the patients skin after the combination treatment with BBL HERO plus Moxi.

Before/After
6 BBL HERO + 2 MOXI + Epicutis Skincare

This patient has Fitzpatrick 5 skin, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation necessitating a very cautious and calculated treatment protocol to achieve these results.  The patient's skin now has a much more even tone & texture, with improvement in pore size and overall a much healthier appearance.

*Note that melasma and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation are incurable at this time and as such require maintenance treatments and strict avoidance of triggers.
Picture Left: The Right side of a male patient’s face with Fitzpatrick grade 5 skin, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with uneven pigment and skin texture, hyperpigmented spots and dull dry skin. The patient skin was pre-treated. Picture Right: The Right side of the male patient’s face following 6 BBL HERO treatments and 2 Moxi treatments. Since the patient’s skin is a Fitzpatrick grade 5 treatments are lower energy and require a calculated and cautious approach in order to transform his skin.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"I have been very impressed with Exordium Medical Group. The office is modern, organized, and spotless. The doctors refer to their model as direct primary care (DPC). Instead of billing insurance, there's a one time enrollment fee and a monthly fee. The fee is a deal relative to the quality of care and cost of comparable concierge models. In addition to DPC (internal medicine), the husband and wife team offers services including weight loss management and aesthetics. I've been appreciative of the excellent care I've been receiving - from assessment to prescription management, referrals, lab and imaging orders, coordination with specialists, and just checking on me."
